We, Hokkaido Ecovillage Promotion Project (HEPP), have promoted “sustainable lifestyle and society” since 2012. We believe we can make better environment, society and community that will be the model for next generations in Hokkaido. We share the chance and experience with the interns and volunteers to have comprehensive skills and knowledge about “sustainable development”.
At Yoichi Eco-Village, over 500 volunteers are coming and live together involving in farming and community activities around a year. In between farm work, volunteers can enjoy nature, food and events as well meeting locals and new people.
Our aim is to develop human resources who can think about ‘urban-rural co-existence’ and ‘how to get involved in global issues’. You will also gain self-sufficiency skills through daily farm work, experience eco-village life in harmony with your peers, and meet a variety of professionals and people practicing attractive ways of life.
■ You could experience these things
-Growing vegetables and fruits in our fields, cooking and processing them.
-Experience of farm life through building maintenance, weeding and mowing, compost toilets, etc.
-Experience of farming and farm life through helping neighbouring farmers.
– Preparing for and organising events and publicising them on social networking sites.
-Knowledge of basic environmental issues, eco-villages and transition towns.
